meet 2026 Candidate for Coronado City Council

Rebecca King

I’m a former local government attorney and community volunteer, running for Council to bring practical, local government experience and greater transparency to the City my family and I have called home for 11 years.

The Navy first brought my family to Coronado from 2007 to 2010, when my husband was stationed at Naval Medical Center San Diego. After his retirement from the Navy in 2017, our family was incredibly fortunate to make Coronado our permanent home. Our oldest son attended Village Elementary, and our youngest attended Coronado Middle School and graduated from Coronado High School and Coronado School of the Arts in 2024.

Before moving to Coronado in 2007, I practiced law full-time, spending most of my career as a Deputy and Assistant City Attorney for the City of Norfolk, VA. In that role, I represented the city and its employees across a broad range of litigation and counseled city departments and employees regarding compliance with federal, state and city laws. I also served briefly as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney, working closely with police officers and detectives to prosecute criminal cases. In private practice, I focused primarily on employment matters, handling cases on behalf of both municipal employees and employers.
